The plastic is not likely to tear but is also soft enough to mold to precision shapes.

Film products are also waterproof and can be used for wet sanding applications,

such as in the metalworking or automotive industries, where there may be contours and excellent polishing applications.   

Film products are available in discs and sheets for hand and orbital sanding applications.
